I am very pleased to share that our proposal “Systems Meet AI: Driving Innovation in the Dutch Society” has been awarded €40,000 by 4TU.NIRICT — a collaborative effort that I co-led with colleagues across several dutch universities.

On 11.11.2025, I had the pleasure to visit the Computer Science (CS) Department at University of Münster, together with colleagues from UTwente’s CS Department. It was a department-to-department exchange where both sides presented research highlights, explored strategic themes, and identified concrete opportunities to collaborate.

On October 8th, 2025, I was invited by Dr. Nikolas Alachiotis to give a guest lecture in the master course Embedded Computer Architectures I (part of the EMSYS program) at the University of Twente.

Teaching operating systems usually takes place in a lecture hall or a classroom—but today I found myself standing on the stage of Agora Theater on the campus, with rows of bright red seats in front of me and full stage lighting above.

On September 3rd, 2025, together with Marco Ottavi, lead of the Dependable Computing Systems group, I had the pleasure of hosting Federico Reghenzani, Assistant Professor from the HEAP Lab at Politecnico di Milano.

This year, I had the pleasure of co-chairing the 19th edition of the Workshop on Operating Systems Platforms for Embedded Real-Time applications (OSPERT), alongside Marion Sudvarg (Washington University in St. Louis).

I’m excited to share that my bachelor student, Harald-Mircea Rutsch, received the Best Presentation Award at the 43rd Twente Student Conference on IT (TScIT 43)! 🏆 Harald’s thesis, “From Cosmic Rays to Compile Time: LLVM-Based Estimation of Soft Errors,” tackles a timely challenge at the intersection of compiler technology and system reliability—especially relevant for mission-critical domains like aerospace and embedded systems.

I’m thrilled to share that our recent paper, led by my PhD student Jeffrey Spaan (co-supervised with Ana-Lucia Varbanescu), has received a Best Paper Nomination at European Conference on Parallel Processing (Euro-Par 2025)!

I’m happy to share that I’ve been invited to serve as a Co-Chair for the Software Architecture, Compilers, and Tool Chains track at ICCD 2025! The International Conference on Computer Design (ICCD) is a well-established venue that brings together researchers and practitioners working on innovative design methodologies for modern computing systems.

DATE'25 list of accepted paper was online on 12.11! Two papers from University of Twente (485 and 1016), collaborating with Lamarr Institut, Karlsruher Institut für Technologie, National Taiwan University. More details will come, keep tuned!
