ACM Europe & 4TU.NIRICT Summer School on “Systems Meet AI”

I am pleased to share that we are organizing the ACM Europe & Dutch 4TU.NIRICT Summer School on “Systems Meet AI”, which will take place in Delft, the Netherlands, from July 6–10, 2026. The summer school will be hosted at the Echo Building, Delft University of Technology.

The summer school focuses on the growing synergy between artificial intelligence and networked computing systems. This interaction is becoming increasingly important: on the one hand, modern AI workloads require efficient, reliable, and scalable computing and networking infrastructures; on the other hand, AI and machine learning techniques are increasingly used to improve system design, resource management, and system operation. The school therefore centers around two complementary perspectives: Systems for AI and AI for Systems.

Through lectures and discussions with experts from across Europe, the school aims to provide students and early-career researchers with a broad view of how AI-powered systems can be designed and deployed in an energy-efficient, reliable, and scalable manner. Application domains include areas such as healthcare, 6G, and industrial automation.

I am happy to be part of the organizing committee together with colleagues from TU Delft, TU/e, UTwente, Wageningen University & Research, the University of Amsterdam, and Leiden University.

This initiative is closely connected to our broader effort to build a Dutch and European research community around the intersection of AI and computing systems. I look forward to welcoming participants in Delft and to the discussions that will emerge from this summer school.
